Distributed Audio
Distributed Audio, the term conjures up images of institutional speaker grilles and volume controls with bakelite knobs and, until fairly recently, that is what it meant. Distributed audio, simply put, is comprised of speakers installed in various rooms with some form of selection/volume control. In the systems integration world, “whole house” or “multi-room” are both terms frequently used to describe distributed audio, these terms are inadequate and  not properly descriptive.

At Integrated Surroundings we prefer the term, “Distributed Audio”, and we prefer to utilize systems that provide some form of feedback and control, this allows the user to select the music or station they desire from virtually any location. While a simple volume control will work, it will not provide any information or choice selection. Zoned Distributed Audio takes the concept a step farther and adds the ability to have multiple, simultaneous sources playing in different locations. Sub-zoning allows logically connected rooms, ie: master bedroom, master bath, to function as one, using volume controls only in the sub-zone area(s), resulting in sensible operation and holding down costs.
These are some typical applications, but every project requires design, at Integrated Surroundings that is what we do. After a consultation, a system can be created for your home and you can begin to enhance your world through Lifestyle Technology.
